2022 ABUAD provides financial assistance and training to local start-ups

In 2022, ABUAD has continued to provide incubation and community support programs by providing seed funding and free training to local entrepreneurs, especially with focus on agriculture and enhancing access to food.

ABUAD has in the last eight years (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) organized an Annual Agriculture Festival in Ado-Ekiti called ABAEX [Afe Babalola Agric Expo] with the Best overall farmer in the state goes home with N2,000,000 (approx. USD$20,000). As a major player in the Agricultural Sector of the nation’s economy, Babalola has received various Awards in appreciation of his contributions, which include but are not limited to the following: President, Forestry Association of Nigeria; Africa Man of the Year in Food Security, Patron, Agbekoya Farmers Association of Nigeria; Patron, Fadama Association of Nigeria; Member, AfricaRice amongst others.

In the Afe Babalola Agric Expo 2022 (ABAEX 2022) event which was held on the 8th October 2022 specifically, ABUAD expended N34 million which over 200% of the amount (N13.2 million) on the farmers selected from the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State in 2021 while the overall best farmer was awarded N2,000,000.00. The financial assistance is inclusive of rigorous and requisite training to farmers on new production technology and the use of modern tools and technology for agricultural development. ABUAD’s motive is to support sustainable agriculture and agribusiness that will not only ensure zero hunger but also geared towards job and wealth creation which will culminate to no poverty in the Country. Similarly, ABUAD has (since 2019 through to 2022) been running the Youth Empowerment in Agri-business & Sustainable Agriculture (YEASA) Scheme, which aims to provide free education and training on agri-business to 1,000 youths from low-income backgrounds in modern agricultural techniques. The program has already graduated 3 cohorts of young, technically smart and well trained agri-entrepreneurs who have received significant financial donations from Babalola, which has enabled them to start their own agricultural ventures.
